FIRST WEEK IN THE MTC
Hello Everyone! Thank you for all of your support for me leaving on my mission! I hope you are all doing well, here is the summary for my first week in the MTC.
When I first got here it was super confusing, they had all of these things for you to do and all these places to go, my host was really nice and gave me some advice for my stay here. They put a red sticker on your name tag on your first day so that people know your new and it has become a running joke for everyone to say welcome to the MTC a million times. I was very glad to take the sticker off on my second day. We had lots of introductions and workshops to get you settled and those were pretty good but I didn’t enjoy them all that much. Wednesday was a really long day haha I met my companion Elder Corpus who is going to New York. We have no roommates and I have yet to meet anyone going to my mission
Thursday was better, we started having classes and both of my teachers are awesome! Brother Read teaches really well and helps , me connect to all the lessons, it’s so cool to have everyone in the class together and to build spiritually off of each other. The meetings and workshops feel really long still. They told us to try to avoid using man and guys and dudes to talk to people, this has been hard for me and me and Elder Hart decided for every guy or man or dude we use, we have to say elder 10times. I met with one of our branch presidency members, his name is President Larsen he was a way cool guy and we had a good talk about work and what I like to do, he saw my doodles on my interview paper and told me to look up an artist named Charles Nelson when I get home because he had doodles in his journal too. I’ve had ups and downs through the week but have been able to find ways to cope and adjust with everything, it is way cool to see how much I grow each day and I love to find new things in the scriptures that help me with my life. My district is becoming a lot closer and it’s way fun to get to know everyone. I know that there is a lot for me to learn and that if I humble myself and turn outward with service towards others, that Heavenly Father will be able to use me more effectively to help and teach others. I hope you all have had a good week as well and that you will allow Christ into your lives and work on having a deeper relationship with him and that as you do you will enjoy life more and feel happiness and joy. -Love Elder Starkie
