HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hello everyone! Happy New Years. Things have been going awesome this last week. Here are a few of the big things:
We met a guy named Rodrigo and he is going through a hard time in his life right now, he feels like church is something he wants to do but he wants to get his life together first. We explained to him about how God can help us through the hard things we are going through, and also told him about programs the church has like an English class so his father can learn English to get a job. He seemed to gain a lot more hope and wants to talk with us more.
We are teaching a guy who has questions about the gospel and came fully prepared with them written down. We were able to discuss them with him and the answers made a mot of sense to him and he wrote them down. We talked to him about baptism and set a baptismal date as a goal for us to work towards with him. He seemed interested and wants to learn more and prepare more.
Later in the week we got a call from three guys who were visiting in Vancouver and wanted to feed the missionaries because that is what they do everywhere they travel. One of them had the last name of Stark and was super excited that my last name is Starkie, when he learned that we have an elder in the apartment named Elder Stark, he had to meet him too and we all got together for Stark power! They were all returned missionaries and gave us some really good pointers for our missions and it really helped me feel more at home here.
There have been a lot of ward parties for Christmas and we have been able to go and connect with the members and meet non members who they invited. It's so cool to be able to feel the spirit everyday and to have so many miracles happening. The lesson in Sunday school yesterday and a message that a member shared at a farewell were both answers to my prayers and I felt that God is watching out for me and listening to my prayers. It's also way cool to see how he uses other people to answer prayers. I know its important to listen to the spirit and to work to help others, you never know how much doing a simple thing for someone can bless them immensely. Thank you for all of your prayers. I love you guys! -Elder Starkie.
